David Rothstein, Ph.D., P.G. is the principal of DRP Consulting, Inc. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin he obtained B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in geology and conducted post-doctoral research on the chemistry and microstructure of cement-based materials. In this research he developed a strong background in petrographic analysis, field mapping, electron microscopy, thermodynamic modeling of mineral-fluid reactions, and numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes. In plain English, this means that he knows how to look at rocks, minerals and concrete and understand the physical and chemical processes that give them their properties and cause them to change. David continues to maintain relationships with various research institutes.
David is also recognized as an exciting and effective speaker. David has appeared at the World of Concrete, at local chapters of the American Concrete Institute, and at various professional conferences and educational seminars. David is an active member of various international standards committees with the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Testing and Materials among other professional societies. He serves as a voting member on committees that are involved with concrete durability, concrete petrography, plaster, and aggregates in both organizations.
